About The Hydro-ecology Pages
and

The Environmental Project Consulting Group

Some of the earliest projects undertaken by The Environmental Project Consulting Group www.epcg.co.uk were in the field that we now call 'hydro-ecology'. For instance, a project for the then Nature Conservancy Council (now English Nature) in 1988 carefully examined the hydrology and hydrochemistry of ponds and their catchment at Bramshill Plantation, the location for the then proposed Foxley Wood New Town in north Hampshire.

Since that time, the number of wetland projects increased rapidly and we titled them Geology, Hydrology, Soils and Edaphic Relations of Wildlife Habitats. Thinking this was rather a mouthful, we hit on the term 'hydro-ecology' which has now spread widely and has become the recognised term for the type of projects we (and our followers!) undertake.

Today a great many of our projects are in the field of hydro-ecology, be they for governmental agencies, non-governmental organisations or for land development companies wishing to ensure they stay on the right side of wildlife and water legislation and at the same time do their bit for biodiversity conservation.

This web site arose out of the increasing demand for competent advice and consultancy in this specialist field.
